  1.                          OS2DOSBBS Conference Rules

  6. OS2DOSBBS was created in order to provide technical support for those folks
  7. who are running a DOS-based bulletin board under an OS/2 VDM (Virtual DOS
  8. Machine).  The rules here are pretty simple:
  9.  
  10.         o  REAL NAMES ONLY.  If you're calling from a BBS that does not
  11.            provide the capacity to use your real name, please sign your
  12.            real name at the bottom of your messages.
  13.  
  14.         o  ENGLISH IS THE ONLY LANGUAGE TO BE USED IN THE CONFERENCE.  The
  15.            majority of Fidonet is composed of English-speaking people, and
  16.            messages posted in other languages will often be meaningless to
  17.            those of us that do not speak those languages.
  18.  
  19.         o  STAY ON-TOPIC.  The topic of this conference is described above.
  20.            There is obviously some leeway to be given on this topic,
  21.            because it covers a broad range - not just DOS-based bulletin
  22.            boards, but front end mailers and DOS-based BBS door programs as
  23.            well. Examples of venturing into off-topic are: discussion of
  24.            OS/2-based bulletin boards, hardware discussion, OS/2 software
  25.            and technical discussion.  Posting test messages and "this BBS
  26.            is now joining the OS2DOS BBS conference" are also off-topic.
  27.            Do not post them.  Discussion of communications drivers for OS/2
  28.            and VDMs are ON-topic, as they directly relate to the smooth
  29.            operation of a DOS-based BBS under OS/2.

  31.         o  NO ADVERTISEMENTS.  This includes BBS ads (even in your
  32.            signature), commercial advertisements, and software/hardware
  33.            advertisements.

  35.         o  NO FLAMING OR FOUL LANGUAGE.  Abuse of other conference
  36.            participants and the use of foul language is absolutely
  37.            forbidden.  We're here to provide each other with technical
  38.            support, not fight amongst ourselves and swear like
  39.            longshoremen.
  40.  
  41.         o  LET THE MODERATOR DO THE MODERATING.  While you might feel the
  42.            urge to correct an errant individual, it is the moderator's job
  43.            to do so and by assuming his position you only muddy the waters.
  44.  
  45. Misbehavior by breaking the conference rules will be given a public
  46. warning.  Those who continually break the rules will have thier access to
  47. the conference permanently removed.
